National Volunteer Week - Abbey Smale

We continue to celebrate National Volunteer Week by highlighting some outstanding volunteers who are involved with ParaFed Canterbury.

Abbey Smale is a student at the University of Canterbury and is doing her volunteer internship with us this year.

Our internship has been offered to students at tertiary institutions over the past few years. Students are required to do 100+ hours of volunteer work with a local organisation as part of their studies.

Abbey has been a valuable addition to our team, working across a range of different sports and programmes. She has led our junior learn to swim sessions, assisted at the regional and primary schools boccia tournaments, attended a Para sports forum in Auckland, and assisted at our gym sessions.

Abbey is currently delivering Para sports sessions to school students as part of the Selwyn Activation Spectacular. This is eight full days of activities across a 4-week period.

We hope that Abbey, and all of our previous student interns, have benefited and enjoyed their time with us.

Thank you Abbey and thank you to all our amazing volunteers.
