The 2024 Canterbury Sport and Recreation Awards were held last Friday night and provided many special moments, including William Stedman being named the Para Athlete of the Year.
However, the induction of the late Graham Condon into the Sporting Legends of Canterbury Hall of Fame was a true highlight of the night.
His wife Kathy, along with members of the family, were present to accept the honour on his behalf.
Kathy spent time on stage being interviewed by Lesley Murdoch, talking about Graham's achievements as a Para athlete, Christchurch City Councillor, and as a mentor to many people. Kathy also took time to talk with several of the current group Para athletes.
His legacy lives on in a number of ways, including our annual Graham Condon Scholarship, which has been awarded every year since his passing. The inaugural winner was Dame Sophie Pascoe at just 14 years of age.
Graham Condon - a true Sporting Legend.
We also congratulate William Stedman, and all of the winners and finalists from the night.
