The Sportsperson of the Year, sponsored by Hellers New Zealand's Butcher, is our supreme award and is presented to our best performing athlete of the year.

William Stedman was announced as the recipient of this year's award.

William won silver in both the 400m and the Long Jump at this year's World Championships - his best ever result at any international competition. He has also won national titles in the 200m, 400m and Long Jump.

The World Championships were held in Paris, France, 12 months out from the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. We look forward to seeing William hopefully compete at his 3rd Paralympics.

William is already a 4-time Paralympic Games medalist. Amazingly this is his 1st time winning the ParaFed Canterbury Sportsperson of the Year Award.
