SHOLTO TAYLOR

Sholto is a four-time Paralympian and three-time Paralympic Games medallist in wheelchair rugby.

He began his impressive streak at the Atlanta 1996 Paralympic Games, winning his first bronze medal. The team repeated the achievement with another bronze at the Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games. This lead to the historical success at the Athens 2004 Paralympic Games where the team won gold. Sholto had the honour of being the flag bearer for the New Zealand Paralympic Team at the opening ceremony at the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games. The team finished 5th. 

Sholto is originally from the Hawkes Bay but has lived in Christchurch for more than 15 years. He first won the Canterbury Wheelchair Rugby MVP Award in 2010 and has won it on 8 separate occasions. Sholto has been the captain of the Canterbury team and is instrumental in the development of new wheelchair rugby players through his role at the Burwood Spinal Unit.

He was for a long-time the contact for wheelchair rugby in the region.
